Listen to what our Smooches Woman Have to Say!
SMOOCHES MODEL ENEON BRISTER
I have been through a lot of pain in these last 14 years. I lost my mother in 2007 to colon cancer. She was my rock and encouragement. She fought her illness until the very end with humility, faith and grace showing me how to be grateful for every moment God gives. I was longing for something that would help to find a way to love myself and not feel alone. I was longing for something to ease my pain of loss and give me purpose in life.
In 2010 I was diagnosed with diabetes. Living as a diabetic has been rough. It has caused me to find a way to restructure my life and focus to live a better and healthier lifestyle. It made me desire a way to find beauty within myself while living with a disease that others judge you as fat and ugly.
Earlier this year my mother-in-law mentioned to me information about joining the Smooches program. I went the the Smooches fashion show as a guest and saw women of all shapes and sizes proudly walking and strutting their stuff as queens. They were stunning and it made me think about myself differently. I never had low self-esteem. However I didn't think of myself as beautiful or gorgegous and because I was tired of feeling that way I put on a brave front and I joined the program. I met beautiful women who loved themselves and wanted to grow in grace and beauty and share their pride with others. Many of these women just like me were mothers and wives and working hard at jobs and being pulled in so many directions and not spending enough time on themselves. I met these beautiful spirits and bonded and laughed and felt encouraged and could give encouragement to others. It was a beautiful experience.
I learned to love me and be even more grateful and thankful to God for all the blessings He placed in my life. To see beauty from a different perspective and that all women no matter shape or size are beautiful creatures. I learned how to work on my character and that beauty on the inside is so important and how it enhances beauty on the outside. I grew in pride of who I am and what I am. This allows me to bond more and encourage others in love especially my own daughter. I am stronger, brave, more confident, determined, and proud yet humble and grateful. My hope as an alumni of Smooches is to encourage other women in love to believe in themselves and see themselves as precious jewels, gifts that are priceless.
Thank you Chante for the experience and I will always be a proud Smooches woman!
SMOOCHES MODEL TAWANDA BURTON
I heard about Smooches Modeling 6yrs ago,;when a friend of a friend, said she was going to be a plus-size Model for a Company named Smooches. I thought how I would love to be a model but its too much money and too much time. So I ignored the opportunity. So as time went on another opportunity became available to join the Smooches Movement when a good friend of mine invited me to her Photo Party at Acereel Studio. There, I was introduced to Chante where she explained to me about Smooches. I gave Chante my phone number and every session Chante would call and reminded me of the Smooches classes. I never ignored Chante; however, I just thought of all the time I would have to invest. At the time, I was over worked and exhausted from parenting but I did needed an outlet. I've always took care of everyone, now it was time to take care of me. So, I decided the next time Chante called me, I was joining the class. However; Chante did not have a chance to reach out because a good friend of mine invited me to take some classes with her and it turned out to be The Smooches Movement. So, I reached out to Chante to be apart of Smooches. And, I"m so glad I did. My first experience at the Smooches Class was quite the experience, I met a lot of beautiful and strong women. I've received a chance to see not only the power of God but the power of a Black Owned Business/Organization created and built by Husband and Wife and help from associates, thrive and help women/girls fulfill their dreams. This experience became priceless to me. I learned runway, make-up, more self esteem, confidence and much more. I did my first Runway Model Show and it was excellent. I thank You Chante and Daryl for stepping out on faith by making your dreams come true. For being a platform for fulfilling others dreams. You both are truly a blessing and I appreciate the both of you and all those involved in this experience, THIS MOVEMENT IS JUST THE BEGINNING.. SMOOCHES.
